Old House Vineyards, located about 6 miles east of downtown Culpeper, is a lovely property with spectacular views and a lovely veranda on which to sit and sip and enjoy them from. The tasting room is a restored 1800s farmhouse with a cozy lounge and spacious veranda that is well-managed by a friendly and knowledgeable staff. There are plenty of indoor and outdoor seating areas, including 'backyard tastings' and lakeside Adirondack chairs. You can walk a trail around the lake and island pavilion where weddings and events are held. Everywhere you look there are pretty views of the vineyard, the lake, and the lush countryside. And, while you're there, if you like, you can play a game of chess on their life-size chessboard.

This Virginia Governor's Cup winner produces, among its fine wines, the stainless, aromatic and pink grapefruit Clover Hill, a green wood and mineral Chardonnay, a semi-sweet Vidal Blanc, the off-dry Rosie's Rose, an earthy, smoky Cabernet Franc, the tart dark-fruit Wicked Bottom, the deep Melange de Maison, and the Arctica made from deep-frozen post-harvest grapes.

Old House Vineyards is available for weddings, corporate functions, and other private events. The vineyard offers seasonal events and celebrations throughout the year including Summer Sunsets, Chili Cookoffs, and Soup's On around the hearth in winter.
